System Update (2010-04-19)

Recent updates add to GangScope's functionality. These updates include a way for multiple users to work on the same Gang Information Sheet (GIS), list GIS summaries, and limit GIS listings by date range.

Multi-user GIS

Allow multiple officers to work on the same GIS. This is a vast inprovement from before where one officer would be burdened with entering the entire GIS. Specific areas such as the narrative are kept separate so that legal proceedings can identify what was entered by each officer.

For instance, a bar fight involving sixteen individuals from two opposing gangs is investigated by four officers. All four officers are able to work on the same GIS entering four individuals each and recording their own narrative of the incident.

GIS Summary Report

This report allows officers an easy way to prepare for intelligence meetings by displaying a printable list of GISs based on a date range. It also allows specific GISs to be removed from the listing in case certain GISs are not relevant or sensitive to the objective.

Date Range on GIS Listings

A date range limit has been added to the GIS History listing for gangs and gang members. This allows listings with a large number of records to be narrowed.

GangScope Starts Sending Data to TxGang

We are proud to announce that GangScope has started sending data on known gang members to TxGang (statewide database for Texas). Data is sent from GangScope to TxGang through an automated process. Results from the process are emailed to supervisors for monitoring.

This integration with TxGang helps agencies fulfill the requirement set forth by Chapter 61 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure which requires agencies collecting information into a local database to forward the collected data to TxGang. GangScope works hard to help agencies comply with state and federal laws in a way that is not obstrusive to getting the job done quickly.

If your agency is looking to implement a local database, let GangScope do the grunt work of maintaining a your database according to Title 28 Part 23 of the Code of Federal Regulations and your state laws. Contact us today and schedule a demo.

System Update (08-18-2009)

We have been working hard over the past three months to improve GangScope. Below is a list of updates that have been applied to the system.

1. Added ability for administrator to allow other officers to approve other incident reports.
The system was built where supervisors had to do all the incident report approvals and all the gang member status reviews. If you only have 1 supervisor then things can pile up very quickly. This was put in place to give supervisor's a helping hand.

2. Two types of logins (Regular or Active Directory)
Usernames, passwords, and permission can be managed in 2 ways. For police departments that use Active Directory, GangScope integrates with your existing instance of Active Directory so you (or your IT department) don't have to worry about maintaining 2 different sets of user credentials. For departments that don't have Active Directory, GangScope provides an manage users page in the administration area.

3. Added a way for supervisors and administration to quickly see all outstanding incident reports.
Before supervisors could only see incidents that had entered the approval process. Now, supervisors can see every incident report that has not been approved. This helps keeps the supervisor informed on the work load of every officer.

4. Updated layout of certain forms to better usuability.
We found that some of the orginial forms we had created could be improved. We modified them to make better use of space and hierarchy.

5. Fixed quick search form placement in FireFox and Google Chrome browsers.
We believe in cross-browser compatibility and thus have fix a small display issue that appeared in FireFox and Chrome.
